About
Rick Baumer's musical journey has been shaped by a diverse array of experiences. Growing up in Newtown, CT, he began playing guitar at the age of eight. After his sophomore year of high school, his family relocated to São Paulo, Brazil, where his passion for music deepened and his studies expanded.
Rick pursued formal music education at Berklee College of Music before completing both his bachelor's and master's degrees at Western Connecticut State University. During his time at Western, he was honored with the James Furman Scholarship Award for performance in a jazz quartet. He has studied with accomplished guitarists including Chris Morrison, Michel Leme, and Jamie Begian.
In addition to solo and duo performances across Connecticut, Rick leads the Bethel Big Band and performs regularly with the Affinity Big Band and the Silver Threads. He also leads Studio Rio, a Brazilian music ensemble showcasing his versatility.
Rick is the K–12 Coordinator of the Music Program in Bethel, CT, where he teaches orchestra, guitar, music theory, and electronic music at Bethel High School.
